As part of  research, I tried to understand and compare between the way Chinese families use their dining table, in daily life and on special occasions and festivals.

The table had to be suitable for both situations. It lead me to design a table with two different positions. 

The final design consists of 20 extruded plastic units with textile joints. The plastic units and joints can vary in color, texture and pattern. The metal legs construction allows expansion or contraction of the base to fit the changing top of the table.

The project was a result of collaboration with Chengdu Technological University in China.
